LAHORE: At least six persons have been killed, while dozen others injured in the destruction caused due to rain along with stormy winds across the country during the last 24 hours. Rainfall and stormy winds prevailed in Lahore, Faisalabad, Lower Dir, Mirpur, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and other areas of country on Friday night and early Saturday morning. The wind blew-away the temporary roofs of several houses, while signboards, trees and electricity towers collapsed leaving six dead and several others injured. The electricity supply remained disconnected in several areas of the country for long periods while flight schedule was badly affected due to bad weather conditions. Around 180 feeders tripped since the wind speed was recorded around 90 Kilometre/hour in Lahore. 32-year-old Basharat was killed in Shahdara after a tree fell on him. Moreover, a woman and a girl were also killed after the roof of their house caved in, meanwhile, six others were left injured in Dera Ismail Khan Area. A wall fell on a citizen crushing him to death in Lower Dir area, while a person was killed after lightning struck his body.
