
Police arrested a young man after he allegedly fired several shots into the air near the vehicle of Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority. Authorities said the incident occurred on Saturday night when the suspect’s vehicle overtook the minister’s car before the occupant reportedly opened aerial fire, prompting an immediate security response.

According to police, officers quickly launched an operation using Safe City surveillance cameras and other modern investigative tools to trace the suspect. As a result, they arrested the accused, recovered the weapon allegedly used in the firing and seized the vehicle involved in the incident for further investigation.
Attaullah Tarar said he was travelling with his family when another vehicle approached from the left and overtook them. He stated that the suspect fired five shots into the air, after which his security team immediately followed the vehicle and informed a nearby police checkpoint to assist in the operation.

The minister clarified that the firing was not aimed directly at him and stressed that the suspect only discharged the weapon into the air. Nevertheless, he said such actions endangered public safety and confirmed that law enforcement authorities had initiated legal proceedings against the accused in accordance with the law.
Police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the motive behind the aerial firing and whether any additional individuals were involved. Meanwhile, officials said the swift response by security personnel and the use of surveillance technology helped ensure the suspect was apprehended without delay.
