An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon regarding the provision of land for the construction of bus depots for various public transport projects and transport plans.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Director General Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Asif Jan Siddiqui, Deputy Commissioners of various districts and senior officials of the concerned departments, while Deputy Commissioners of Malir, Korangi, Karachi Central and Karachi West were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, the officials gave a detailed briefing regarding the land required for public transport projects and parking and operation of buses. The government land available in various districts, proposed locations and future requirements were also reviewed to determine suitable locations for the establishment of bus depots.

On this occasion, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government is adding 50 double-decker buses and 500 new electric (EV) buses to the transport system, the arrival of which will significantly improve the public transport system of the province. He directed that the process of identifying and providing suitable land for bus depots should be completed immediately.

He directed all Deputy Commissioners to identify vacant government land available in their respective districts so that modern bus depots can be established for mass transit projects.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that timely availability of suitable depots and operational infrastructure is essential for the success of the projects, therefore, all the concerned institutions should complete the identification of land and other necessary arrangements as soon as possible through mutual cooperation and effective coordination.

He said that the Sindh government is committed to its commitment to provide modern, comfortable, eco-friendly and world-class travel facilities to the citizens. He further said that the government is trying to bring new buses to the roads for public service as soon as possible, while the ongoing projects in the public transport sector will lead to a revolutionary change in the transport system in the province.
