Probationary ASPs meet Punjab IG Abdul Kareem

Published on: July 15, 2026 6:14 AM

Probationary Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) of the 52nd Common Training Program visited the Central Police Office and met Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem. The delegation comprised 14 probationary ASPs, including two female officers, belonging to different provinces, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh.

On this occasion, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has provided extensive resources to equip Punjab Police with IT-based applications, modern community policing, and advanced technology. He said that under the Chief Minister’s “Safe Punjab Vision”, a zero-tolerance policy is being strictly implemented against incidents of violence, sexual assault, and harassment against women and children, while the entire province has been brought under an Artificial Intelligence enabled Safe City system down to the tehsil level.

IG Punjab said that on-ground policing, observation, timely decision-making, and practical field experience are of utmost importance for probationary officers throughout their professional careers. He directed that public issues should be resolved on a priority basis at the grassroots level while remaining within the ambit of the law, and that people-friendly policing should be promoted.

Abdul Kareem directed the probationary officers to gain comprehensive knowledge of the modern infrastructure, surveillance systems, and virtual technologies of Punjab Safe Cities. He said that field training in district police and other branches would play a vital role in the professional grooming of ASPs. He further said that special attention should be given to community policing, effective engagement with citizens, and the welfare of subordinate police personnel. During the meeting, IG Punjab sought feedback from the probationary officers regarding the experiences they gained during training and also answered their various questions.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that the probationary officers have been posted in various districts of Punjab for six months of field training. The probationary ASPs were also briefed on various aspects of operations, investigation, CCD, traffic management, public service delivery, and crime control. Additional IG Training Asim Gulzar, Additional IG IAB Imran Mehmood, Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Nekokara, DIG Establishment-II Suleman Sultan Rana, DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid, along with other senior officers, were also present on the occasion.
