Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has launched its Summer Internship Programme 2026, with around 30,000 students from across the country participating in the initiative.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Alkhidmat Foundation Secretary General Syed Waqas Jafri, former vice chancellor of Punjab University Dr Khalid Mahmood, Head of Alkhidmat Volunteers Management Department Sannan Akbar, recent graduates, social workers and volunteers. Addressing the ceremony, Mr Jafri said Pakistan’s youth were the country’s greatest strength and, if equipped with the right direction, practical training and a spirit of humanitarian service, they could play a key role in the country’s development.
He said the Summer Internship Programme was not merely a training initiative but a comprehensive platform designed to prepare young people for leadership, volunteerism and active participation in nation-building.
“Alkhidmat is committed to providing young people with opportunities to gain practical experience, understand community challenges and contribute to solving them,” he said.
Mr Jafri added that the programme would equip students and fresh graduates with skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), first aid, disaster response, project management, fundraising and community engagement, enabling them to become responsible and capable citizens. He urged young people to use their abilities not only for personal growth but also for the service of humanity and the country’s progress, adding that Alkhidmat would continue to provide platforms that promote learning, volunteerism and positive social change.
