The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has issued party tickets for 37 out of 45 constituencies ahead of the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, while consultations for the remaining eight seats have entered their final stage, according to party sources.
The development marks a significant step in the party’s election preparations as it seeks to strengthen its position in the region. Sources said that the names of candidates for the remaining constituencies are expected to be finalised within the next two days following ongoing consultations with key political figures and local leaders.
Party President Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reportedly assigned senior leaders Rana Sanaullah and Amir Muqam the responsibility of overseeing election-related matters and coordinating with prospective candidates. The two leaders are continuing a series of meetings aimed at resolving outstanding issues and ensuring consensus on the remaining nominations.
Sources also revealed that several political developments have taken place during the ticket allocation process. Former political figures and local leaders are said to be joining the party ahead of the elections, with discussions regarding their participation now largely settled.
In Abbaspur, Yasin Gulshan is expected to be nominated as the party’s candidate, while former minister Chaudhry Shahzad has reportedly decided to join the PML-N from the Lachhrat constituency. Similarly, Malik Nawaz is likely to secure the party ticket from Raj Mahal Kotli, while Sardar Javed Sharif is being considered for the LA-22 Rawalakot seat.
According to party sources, the names of several prospective candidates have been forwarded to Nawaz Sharif for final approval before the official announcement. The leadership is also maintaining contact with party members who may not receive tickets in an effort to preserve internal unity and discipline.
The PML-N is expected to complete its candidate selection process shortly as political activity intensifies ahead of the Azad Kashmir elections.
