Khawaja Asif warns AJK critics

Published on: June 14, 2026 12:44 PM

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has accused some individuals in Azad Jammu and Kashmir of pursuing a particular agenda. His remarks highlight growing political tensions and underscore the government’s emphasis on constitutional loyalty. The statement directly concerns residents of Azad Kashmir and those engaged in the ongoing debate.

In a post on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif said that some “misguided brothers” in Azad Kashmir appeared to be following an agenda. He did not identify any individuals or groups. However, his comments drew attention to the importance of adherence to constitutional principles.

The defence minister urged citizens to read the Constitution, particularly Article 5. He noted that the article requires every citizen to maintain unwavering loyalty to the state. According to him, constitutional obligations remain essential for national unity and stability.

— Khawaja M. Asif (@KhawajaMAsif) June 13, 2026

Furthermore, Asif stressed that any dialogue must begin with loyalty and complete obedience to the state. He argued that commitment to constitutional values forms the foundation of meaningful engagement. His remarks reflected the government’s position on issues involving state authority and public discourse.

Meanwhile, the statement comes amid continuing political discussions in Azad Kashmir. Although Asif did not provide further details, his comments are likely to spark debate among political stakeholders. Observers will watch closely for reactions from regional leaders and other concerned groups.
