Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has claimed that the current political equation in Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to change before the formation of the next government. He said the Gilgit-Baltistan government formation process is still underway and the final picture will become clear after the remaining electoral process is completed.
Speaking on a television talk show, Rana Sanaullah stated that the final number game would emerge on June 15. He expressed confidence that his party would secure two or three additional seats, which could significantly alter the current political landscape in the region.
He also said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had not contacted his party regarding any possible political arrangement. His remarks came amid ongoing efforts by different parties to strengthen their position ahead of government formation.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan said his party would obtain the three seats it needs to strengthen its claim to form the government. On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahram Turkiye said it would be better for his party to remain in the opposition rather than become part of a coalition setup.
Following the elections, political parties and independent candidates continue negotiations to secure a majority in the assembly. A simple majority of 17 seats is required to form the government. Currently, PPP leads with 10 seats, followed by seven independents and six seats held by PML-N. With repolling scheduled at 26 polling stations in five constituencies on June 15, the outcome of the Gilgit-Baltistan government formation process remains uncertain.
