According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the temperature was recorded at 37°C with high humidity levels. Relative humidity reached 56 percent, which significantly increased the heat index. Moreover, winds blowing at 26 kilometres per hour offered limited relief from the scorching conditions.
The Met Office confirmed that a heatwave warning remains in place across multiple regions. It said temperatures could remain up to seven degrees above normal during the ongoing spell. Furthermore, Karachi is expected to experience highs between 40°C and 43°C in the coming days.
Officials warned that the heatwave is likely to persist until June 12. They advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours between 10am and 4pm. Additionally, vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly were urged to take extra precautions.
Meanwhile, farmers were advised to adjust agricultural activities according to weather conditions. Authorities also stressed the importance of hydration and avoiding unnecessary outdoor exposure. The ongoing heatwave highlights growing climate challenges in urban Pakistan.
