Published on: June 9, 2026 5:03 PM

Six Frontier Constabulary personnel were martyred while repelling a terrorist attack on a security post in Peshawar. Security forces foiled the militants’ attempt to capture the post in Hassan Khel. The incident highlights ongoing security challenges facing personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to security sources, terrorists launched an assault on the Frontier Constabulary post on Monday. Security personnel responded immediately and engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange of fire. As a result, eight terrorists were killed during the retaliatory operation. Four FC personnel were also injured in the clash.

Meanwhile, sources said three Frontier Constabulary personnel were taken hostage during the attack. Additional security force units reached the area shortly after the incident. Authorities subsequently cordoned off the location and launched efforts to secure the surroundings. Further details about the hostages were not immediately available.

The attack comes amid a renewed rise in militant violence across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Recent assessments by security analysts have pointed to worsening conditions after several months of improvement. May witnessed multiple deadly attacks, including suicide bombings that targeted security personnel and civilians.
