Security plan reviewed for sensitive areas in Muzaffargarh during Muharram

Published on: June 7, 2026 3:20 AM

A high-level meeting was held in Muzaffargarh to review security and public service arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was jointly chaired by Usman Tahir Jappa and Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah.

Officials discussed plans for Muharram processions and gatherings, focusing on security, cleanliness, lighting, drainage, and the provision of clean drinking water. The aim was to ensure that mourners can observe Muharram in a safe and comfortable environment.

Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa said that, following the directions of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all necessary facilities would be provided during Muharram. He instructed relevant departments to complete cleaning work, repair street lights, and make sure procession routes and gathering places are fully prepared before the start of the month.

Speaking about security arrangements, DPO Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah said that all processions and religious gatherings would be closely monitored. He added that special security measures would be put in place at sensitive locations to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents. He assured participants that all available resources would be used to ensure effective security throughout Muharram.

The meeting also stressed the importance of coordination among all government departments. Officials were directed to remain in close contact and work together under a unified strategy to ensure smooth arrangements and a peaceful atmosphere.

Representatives from various departments attended the meeting and briefed participants on the preparations being made in their respective areas. The administration expressed confidence that, through timely planning and cooperation, Muharram events across Muzaffargarh would be conducted safely and peacefully.
