Property Amendment Act activated against land grabbing, special tribunals established

The Property Amendment Act has been activated in Punjab, while the order has been canceled in 575 cases.

Chief Justice Lahore High Court Alia Neelam has nominated additional sessions judges in 36 districts of the province for special tribunals.

Chief Justice Alia Neelam has sent the nominations of additional judges for the tribunals to the Punjab government. Under the amendment act, additional sessions judges will be empowered as tribunals and will be able to pronounce imprisonment for 3 to 10 years in case of illegal occupation of land.

The judges nominated include Additional Sessions Judge Saifullah Sohal in Lahore, Muhammad Ashfaq in Kasur, Nadeem Ahmed Sohail Cheema in Attock, Muhammad Salabat Javed in Bahawalnagar, Sahir Islam in Bahawalpur, Muhammad Azam Javed in Bhakkar, Naeem Abbas in Chiniot, Qasim Ali Bhatti in Chakwal, Sarfaraz Hussain in DG Khan, Imran Shafi Khan in Faisalabad, Muhammad Farhan Nabi in Gujranwala and Muzaffar Nawaz Malik in Gujarat.

Similarly, Umar Rashid in Hafizabad, Umar Farooq Khan in Jhang, Mirza Aurangzeb in Jhelum, Abdullah Usman in Khanewal, Muhammad Bashir in Khushab, Hamad Ayaz in Lodhran, Muhammad Pervez Nawaz in Layyah, Muhammad Fakhar Aftab Ahmed in Mandi Bahauddin, Abdul Ghafoor in Mianwali, Ghazala Yasmin in Multan, Muhammad Ahmed Hasnain Khan in Muzaffargarh, Alam Sher in Narowal and Mujahid Sherdil Cheema in Nankana Sahib have been nominated as tribunals.

In addition, Khalil Ahmed Khan in Okara, Asad Hafeez in Pakpattan, Chaudhry Qasim Javed in Rawalpindi, Muhammad Ashraf in Rajanpur, Muhammad Bilal in Rahim Yar Khan, Muhammad Naeem in Sahiwal, Abid Raza Khan in Sialkot, Abdul Hameed in Sheikhupura, Zafar Hayat in Sargodha, Muhammad Kashif in Toba Tek Singh and Muhammad Imran in Vehari have been nominated as Tribunal Additional Sessions Judges.

After the implementation of the Amendment Act, cases related to illegal occupation of land will be heard in special tribunals and action will be taken against the occupation mafia through strict punishments under the law.
