The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to establish 72 Chief Minister Model Schools across all districts of the province during the next fiscal year as part of its education reform agenda.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by KP CM Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday, where officials presented the proposed plan and initial framework for the project, said an official release.
The meeting was informed that separate model schools for boys and girls would be established across the province with an estimated cost of Rs 9.5 billion. A dedicated legal framework, including rules and regulations, will be developed for the institutions, while a centralized board of Governors will be set up to oversee their administration.
Directing authorities to immediately begin work on the required legislation, the chief minister said the initiative would mark a significant step towards improving the quality of education in the province.
He said the schools would be equipped with modern teaching systems, trained faculty and facilities meeting international standards, ensuring students receive quality education in a conducive learning environment.
Afridi reiterated that access to quality education is the right of every child and said the government remains committed to introducing long-term reforms to address challenges in the education sector. He expressed confidence that the CM Model Schools would emerge as a model for modern and quality education in the province, adding that investment in education is essential for sustainable human development and a brighter future.
