Robert Pattinson defends intense training amid Batman backlash

Published on: June 3, 2026 8:15 PM

Actor Robert Pattinson has responded strongly to criticism suggesting he did not properly prepare physically for his role in Batman: Part II. He rejected claims of poor training and said he followed a strict and demanding fitness routine throughout his preparation period for the superhero sequel.

Moreover, Pattinson addressed earlier remarks that were interpreted as him dismissing workouts as “uncool,” which fueled online debate about his dedication. He clarified that such interpretations misrepresented his commitment, especially as he continued to train even when public perceptions questioned his effort.

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, the 40-year-old actor insisted that he trained consistently and often at unusual hours. He stated that he worked out daily, sometimes twice a day, including late-night sessions around three o’clock in the morning during his preparation phase.

Furthermore, Pattinson revealed that he has set up a home gym at his Beverly Hills residence to maintain his fitness for the upcoming sequel. He explained that he remains fully committed to staying in shape, even as he continues waiting for a finalized production schedule.

However, the actor admitted that he has not yet received an official filming timeline for Batman: Part II. He said a stunt coordinator recently mentioned a demanding 11-week night shoot, although no formal schedule has been shared with him so far.

Meanwhile, the film directed by Matt Reeves is expected to feature a high-profile cast and remains scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. As a result, anticipation continues to build, making it one of the most closely watched superhero projects currently in development.
