
Authorities have submitted a preliminary investigation report into the collision between two vessels at Karachi Port. The report describes the incident as serious and points to alleged negligence by both captains. Officials have barred the ships from leaving Pakistan until the investigation is completed.
According to port authorities, the collision involved a container vessel and a cable-laying ship. Initial findings indicate that one vessel struck the other from behind while it was stationary. The incident caused significant damage and prompted an immediate response from maritime authorities.

The preliminary report states that the container ship is registered in the United Arab Emirates, while the cable-laying vessel is registered in Liberia. Officials said the Mercantile Marine Department and Karachi Port Trust will jointly conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
Authorities further revealed that the impact severely damaged the vessel identified as MV Neva, leaving it inoperable. Rescue teams used four large tugboats and experienced crews to tow the damaged ship back to port. The operation was carried out to prevent further complications and secure the vessel safely.

Officials said repairs to the affected ship could be carried out at Karachi Shipyard. Insurance representatives will also participate in the investigation process. The final inquiry is expected to establish liability and assess the full extent of the damages resulting from the collision.
