Mamya Shajaffar interview triggers Arslan Butt notice

Published on: May 25, 2026 9:20 PM

Arslan Butt has issued a legal notice to fellow actor Mamya Shajaffar over allegations discussed during a recent interview. The notice described the claims as “false, baseless, malicious and defamatory” and accused Shajaffar of causing reputational harm. The dispute emerged after her appearance on a YouTube interview hosted by Iffat Omar.

During the interview, Shajaffar recounted incidents involving a co-star identified only as “Arsalan,” whose behaviour allegedly made her uncomfortable on set. She described several confrontations, including inappropriate comments, aggressive conduct, and an unwanted attempt at physical contact. Shajaffar later clarified online that she was not referring to actor Arslan Khan.

According to the legal notice shared by Butt, the allegations implied sexual harassment and caused him mental distress and public embarrassment. The notice demanded that Shajaffar retract the statements, remove allegedly defamatory content, and issue a public apology within 14 days. It also warned of possible civil and criminal proceedings under Pakistani law if the demands are ignored.

In the interview, Shajaffar claimed the actor criticised her appearance and suggested ways to change her body shape. She also alleged that he ignored repeated refusals when attempting to hug her during rehearsals. Shajaffar said she eventually shouted at him after he failed to respect her boundaries.

Shajaffar has not publicly responded to the legal notice so far. The controversy has triggered debate on social media regarding workplace conduct, consent, and accountability within Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
