Mohsin Naqvi’s IPL visit remains uncertain

Published on: May 22, 2026 9:09 PM

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has not yet received an official invitation from the Indian government to attend the Indian Premier League (IPL) final, according to sources. The development has created uncertainty over his possible visit to India for the high-profile cricket event.

Reports suggest Naqvi was initially invited to attend the IPL final scheduled on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, officials say no formal invitation has been delivered so far. His participation now depends on official diplomatic clearance.

Sources further said that any decision regarding his travel will be taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The PCB chief is also expected to represent Pakistan at the ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad on May 30 and 31. However, his attendance remains unclear due to the pending invitation status.

The ICC meetings and IPL final are scheduled closely, increasing the importance of final travel approvals. Authorities in Pakistan are expected to assess the situation once formal communication from India is received. Diplomatic protocol remains a key factor in the decision-making process.
