
Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Saturday to sight the Zilhaj moon, setting the stage for the official announcement of Eidul Azha. The meeting will review moon-sighting reports from across the country. The decision will determine the start of the Islamic month and Eid timings.
The session will be held at the Pakistan Meteorological Department office in Karachi under the chairmanship of Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad. Regional and district committees will also meet simultaneously to collect local observations. Moreover, all reports will be forwarded for final verification at the central level.

Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs said the announcement will be made after reviewing nationwide testimonies. The process ensures coordination between zonal committees and the central body. Furthermore, the system aims to maintain uniformity in religious observances across the country.
Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission has forecast a strong possibility of moon visibility. Based on the projection, Eidul Azha may fall on May 27 if the crescent is sighted. However, authorities stressed that the final decision rests with the committee.
