Nine terrorists killed in Bajaur camp attack

Published on: May 15, 2026 3:50 PM

Security forces killed nine terrorists after repulsing an attack on an army camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district. Four security personnel were martyred during the overnight gunbattle, according to official sources. The assault highlighted rising militant violence across KP and growing security concerns in border regions.

Official sources said terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij attacked the camp late Thursday night using explosives and heavy gunfire. The attackers attempted to enter the facility through one of its gates after detonating explosives nearby. However, security forces responded quickly and prevented the militants from breaching the camp perimeter.

Sources said initial reports confirmed nine terrorists were killed during the intense exchange of fire. Four soldiers also embraced martyrdom while defending the camp against the coordinated assault. The attackers reportedly failed to enter the facility despite sustained firing and repeated attempts to advance.

Meanwhile, security officials launched a search and clearance operation around the camp following the attack. Injured security personnel were shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment after the operation concluded. The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan later claimed responsibility for the assault in an official statement.

The attack came days after another deadly blast in Lakki Marwat killed nine people, including two traffic policemen. Earlier this month, 15 police personnel were martyred in a suicide attack on the Fateh Khel police post in Bannu. According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies, militant violence sharply increased across KP during 2025.
