PESCO introduces QR code bill payments

Published on: May 4, 2026 4:01 PM

Consumers of Peshawar Electric Supply Company can now pay electricity bill online through QR code, as the utility introduces a new digital payment feature aimed at improving customer convenience.

According to a spokesperson for PESCO, QR codes have been added to electricity bills, allowing users to make payments from home by scanning the code through compatible banking or mobile payment applications. The move is designed to simplify the bill payment process and reduce the need for customers to visit banks or payment centres.

Officials advised consumers to verify their personal details, including name and address, before scanning and completing any transaction. This step is intended to ensure payments are linked to the correct account and avoid billing issues.

The announcement comes as utility providers across Pakistan increasingly adopt digital solutions to improve service delivery and customer experience. Online payment options have gained popularity due to convenience, reduced queues, and easier record management.

Separately, amid forecasts of extreme temperatures in Karachi, K-Electric has also announced relief measures for residents during the expected heatwave. The company said a special load management strategy would be implemented to minimise disruptions during periods of severe heat.

K-Electric stated that all scheduled maintenance shutdowns would remain suspended during the heatwave to avoid technical interruptions in electricity supply. Company officials also noted that around 70 per cent of its network is already exempt from load-shedding.

The measures are expected to provide some relief to households and businesses as temperatures rise and electricity demand increases. Authorities have encouraged consumers to take advantage of digital payment options and remain updated on service advisories during the hot weather period.
