Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon visited the Red Line BRT. On this occasion, he was accompanied by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, CEO Trans Karachi Zubair Channa, consultants and other officials. During the visit, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was given a detailed briefing regarding the progress of the project.
Talking to the media on this occasion, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that decisions are not taken on my or anyone’s personal wishes, we have fully complied with all the laws and there was no negligence or malice on the part of the government, the problems of the city are of a different nature, a good road can be built in Tharparkar in a short time, but University Road is the hub of the city where utilities remain a big challenge.
He said that various institutions including K-Electric and SSGC were facing problems, after which the Sindh government took a tough decision to terminate the contract and handed over the contract to FWO, We are trying to restore traffic to some extent by the end of July, we request the public that we are moving this project forward with good manners.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that it was very easy to bring buses without building the road, but we do not live on empty buses, construction of roads is also necessary because BRT is a project of future generations, work is also underway on the Yellow Line BRT, one has to take bitter sips to achieve something big, some political parties are doing politics on this project, but our job is to complete this project in any case.
He said that the Red Line BRT is such an important project that the Chief Minister of Sindh also visited it today. Instead of going home from the airport, I also came directly to this project so that I could review the work myself.
In response to a question, he said that the President’s visit to China was very successful, in which detailed discussions were held on the promotion of economic prosperity and mutual cooperation. Some people make news according to their desires and specific agenda. This is not freedom of the press but is tantamount to distorting the facts. The President’s visit to China was very successful and all speculations made in this regard have died down.
In response to another question, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that our intention was not to abuse any contractor, all decisions were made keeping in mind the law and public interest, it is hoped that the courts will decide on the merits while fulfilling all the requirements of justice, we have fulfilled all the legal and moral requirements, the court’s decision is in our eyes, however, development work will not stop due to the court order, if necessary, we will also face a contempt of court case, but development projects of public interest will never stop.
In response to another question, he said that some problems are being faced due to the water line, instructions have been given to the Water Board to resolve this problem immediately.
In response to another question, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi spoke about the roads of the Sindh government, although all the major roads being built in the province are of excellent quality and the roads that connect the cities are also very well constructed. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi or any political party representative should sit down, I am ready to give him a detailed briefing on all the projects.
In response to another question, he said that the increase in petrol prices affects everything and due to this, the cost of all ongoing projects across Pakistan is also increasing,
He said that Work is underway on several development projects in Karachi city simultaneously, our aim is to provide maximum facilities to the people of Karachi.
He said that Shahrah-e-Bhutto is a game-changer project for Karachi, we are ready to take Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit it so that he can personally review the development works, due to the large population in Karachi, there are also many challenges, problems are there but despite this, development works are going on rapidly in the city.
