Israel strikes Lebanon despite ceasefire

Published on: April 27, 2026 10:00 PM

Beirut: Israeli forces have continued operations in southern Lebanon despite a reported ceasefire, destroying residential buildings in several towns. Lebanese media said multiple areas were hit in air and drone strikes, causing casualties and widespread damage. The situation has further escalated tensions in the border region.

According to reports, the town of Kfara in Bint Jbeil district was targeted in airstrikes on its entrances. A drone strike in the town of Qleia near Tyre killed one civilian and injured several others. Local sources described extensive destruction in residential areas following the attacks.

The Israeli military claimed it had struck more than 50 Hezbollah positions in recent days. However, Lebanon’s health ministry reported over 2,500 deaths since the escalation, along with more than 7,000 injuries. The humanitarian toll continues to rise amid ongoing hostilities.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has reportedly carried out retaliatory attacks, including drone strikes targeting Israeli forces during withdrawal operations. Reports suggest panic among Israeli troops following the incidents. Both sides continue to accuse each other of violating ceasefire terms.
