ITF junior tennis championship kicks off

The Treet ITF Pakistan Syed Dilawar Abbas Memorial Junior Tennis Championship (J-60, Leg-3) kicked off here at the PTF Tennis Complex on Monday.

Tariq Murtza, Chairman of the Islamabad Tennis Association, inaugurated the championships.

A total of 24 boys and 20 girls from 16 countries, including Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Japan, China, Australia, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Sri Lanka, USA, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, and Thailand, are participating in the championship.

The event is organised annually in memory of Late Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas, who served as President of the Pakistan

Tennis Federation from 2001 to 2009, as a tribute to his legacy, passion, and love for tennis.

The event is proudly sponsored by Faisal Movers, Book Karo, OGDCL, Ndure Shoes, and Syngenta Pakistan.

Boys Singles 1st Round: Jayden Park (HKG) w/o Muhammad Hassan Usmani (PAK); Ruoyu Hua (CHN) beat Sarp Akan Ercan (TUR) 6-1, 6-4 ; Inam Qadir (PAK) w/o Moulik Agarwal (IND): Amir Muhammad Khan Mazari (PAK) beat Kinki Shi (HKG) 6-1,6-1; Vladislav Chiburaev (RUS) beat Muhammad Yahya (PAK) 6-4, 7-6(5) ; Abdaar Ali (PAK) w/o Han Yang (CHN; Artem Bukin (RUS) beat Heran Zhang (CHN) 7-6(5), 7-5; Jinxuan Cheng (CHN) beat Fedor Dorokhov (RUS) 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-3; Ho Wan Yeung (HKG) beat Arham Tariq (PAK) 6-1, 6-0; Muhammad Ahmad Afzal (PAK) w/o Ivan Bondarenko (KAZ); Ganuka Fernando (SRI) beat Zohaib Afzal Malik (PAK) 6-2, 6-3; Ahtesham Humayun (PAK) beat Hao Yi Zhang (CHN) 6-1, 4-1 Ret.

Girls Singles 1st Round: Kiko Okuyama (JPN) beat Bismal Zia Ullah Khan (PAK) 6-0,6-1; Safiia Urazalina (KAZ) beat Yuriko Michihiro (JPN) 6-0, 6-1; Romisa Malik (PAK) beat Yeanna Chowdhury (BAN) 6-2, 7-5; Khadija Khalil beat Rania Busz (USA) 4-6,6-2,6-0.

Boys Doubles 1st Round: Ruoyu Hua (CHN), Heran Zhang (CHN) beat Vladislav Chiburaev, Ahtesham Humayun (PAK) 6-4,6-4; Kinki Shi (HKG), Ho Wan Yeung (HKG) beat Abdaar Ali (PAK), Arham Tariq (PAK) 6-2,6-2; Artem Bukin (RUS), Fedor Dorokhov (RUS) beat Zohaib Afzal Malik, M.Yahya (PAK) 6-2,7-5.

Girls Doubles 1st Round: Yeanna Chowdhury (BAN), Eyu Yoshida(JPN) beat Yuliia Artiuhina(POL), Rania Busz (USA) 6-0,6-0; Yitong Lu (CHN), Ai Teng (CHN) beat Hinako Higaki (JPN), Yuriko Michihiro (JPN) 6-4,6-2. The matches will start tomorrow at 10:00 am.
