
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced free wheat storage bags worth Rs6 billion for farmers. The initiative aims to support registered wheat growers during the procurement season. The decision is expected to benefit farmers across the province.
Under the plan, registered farmers will receive ten bags per acre from procurement centres. The chief minister also directed immediate wheat purchases at Rs3,500 per maund. The move is designed to ensure timely payments and fair pricing for growers.

A meeting chaired by the chief minister approved priority wheat procurement from Kisan Card holders. It was also decided that farmers will receive payments within 72 hours of sale. Additionally, strategic committees will monitor wheat procurement at provincial and divisional levels.

The chief minister also launched a “Work with Punjab Government” internship programme. The initiative will provide opportunities for agriculture graduates and other professionals. Officials said the programme aims to strengthen agricultural capacity and modernisation.

During the meeting, officials reported record progress in the Kisan Card scheme, including loans worth Rs100 billion and high repayment rates. The government also highlighted advances in tractor distribution and agricultural mechanisation. Officials said farmer confidence in government initiatives has reached 88 percent.
