LARKANA: The Hospital Management Committee meeting of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) was held here under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor (VC), Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Prof: Ghulam Asghar Channa, at the office of the CMCH Medical Superintendent, Dr. Inayatullah Kandhro on Thursday. Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch, DC Kashif Ali, Professors who are all head of departments as well, PPP local leaders and other notables attended the meeting in large numbers to discuss the affairs of the CMCH. Prof Aftab Shah of medicine said that CMCH has the facility of PCR machine for testing Hepatitis but there are no kits due to which the machine has become useless. Prof Mukhtiar Abro said that we have outdated x-ray machines and there is not a single computerized machine. Prof: Manzoor Phulpoto said that they are providing free medicines to 1800 TB patients and many of them are also given Rs. 5000/- each on a self-help basis. Dr. Zahid Hussain said that recently five new dialysis machines have been donated to CMCH but there is no space to install them in the dialysis center adding as many as 40 kidney-failure patients are getting dialysis in three shifts daily. Prof. K Das complained that costly machines received in new OT Complex have not yet been installed which shows the lack of interest of the CMCH administration due to which these machines are rusting or will be out of order before their expiry dates. Prof. Ilyas Shaikh said that there are no air-conditioners in the Dental Ward adding there is shortage of doctors which is always felt. Qazi Asghar said that meetings are regularly held but the decisions are never implemented which must be ensured. MS Dr. Kandhro complained that the emergency department PGs are not attending their duties in all three shifts due to which emergency patients are seriously affected. He said that evening & night rounds are also not taken by the consultants adding all ghost employees will have to perform their duties or else their monthly salaries will be stopped. Prof: Abdul Hameed Shaikh said that Paeds Medicine department was to be made a separate Institute of Child Health having 240-bed capacity but it is regrettably still a department divided into three units.
