RWMC keeps it neat and clean during holidays in Rawalpindi

Published on: April 13, 2026 9:02 AM

Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) continued its sanitation operations without interruption during the four-day holidays, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for residents across the city.

According to official, all key cleaning activities, including manual sweeping, waste lifting, door-to-door waste collection, road washing, drain cleaning, and container washing, were carried out consistently.

Authorities maintained a zero-waste operation across the city during this period.

Under the “Suthra Punjab” programme, RWMC teams remained active in both urban and rural areas, taking comprehensive measures to improve sanitation standards. Special cleaning arrangements were also made in mosques, including lime sprinkling, to provide a safe and healthy environment for worshippers.

During the operation, desilting of drains, timely disposal of waste, and cleaning of streets and neighborhoods were ensured.

Despite the holidays, field staff remained fully engaged in their duties to uphold cleanliness standards.

An awareness campaign on anti-littering and the helpline 1139 was also conducted extensively.

Communication teams carried out door-to-door visits, distributing pamphlets and making announcements via megaphones. Special announcements were also made in mosques, while messages promoting cleanliness were broadcast through speakers mounted on vehicles.

Information kiosks were set up at various locations across the city to educate citizens about sanitation initiatives, anti-littering laws, and the helpline. Banners and flexes carrying awareness messages were also displayed at key points and on vehicles.

RWMC has urged citizens to avoid disposing of waste in open plots, roads, streets, mosques, graveyards, schools, and other public places.

Residents have been encouraged to use waste bins or hand over garbage to Suthra Punjab teams.

The company further stated that the helpline 1139 remains operational, allowing citizens to register complaints or seek information related to cleanliness.

Officials emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility and essential for ensuring a healthy environment.
