
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said comprehensive and constructive discussions took place between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, stressing that both sides should remain firmly committed to the ongoing ceasefire. Speaking during a press briefing in the capital, Dar noted that the talks reflected a serious effort by both delegations to explore diplomatic solutions and reduce tensions. He added that continued dialogue and mutual understanding remain essential for stabilizing the region and avoiding further escalation.

Furthermore, Dar expressed optimism that both Washington and Tehran would adopt a constructive approach in the coming days to ensure lasting peace and prosperity across the region and beyond. He explained that both countries responded positively to a request made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to engage in dialogue in Pakistan. According to Dar, this willingness to participate showed that diplomatic engagement still holds value despite the complexity of the issues involved.
At the same time, the foreign minister highlighted the importance of honoring the ceasefire commitment, emphasizing that sustained peace depends on responsible actions from both parties. He thanked the delegations from the United States and Iran for attending the discussions and participating in the dialogue process. In addition, Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue playing a constructive and facilitative role in promoting negotiations aimed at resolving sensitive regional disputes.

Providing further details about the meeting, Dar said the US delegation was led by Vice President JD Vance, while the Iranian delegation was headed by senior political leader Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. He noted that both sides held multiple rounds of discussions covering key political and security concerns. These exchanges, he explained, allowed representatives from both countries to present their positions clearly while exploring possible paths toward easing tensions.
Moreover, Dar said Pakistani officials played an active role in facilitating the talks to ensure smooth communication between the two delegations. He added that senior officials, including Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir, supported the diplomatic effort and helped coordinate the dialogue process. According to Dar, Pakistan remains committed to encouraging peaceful engagement and will continue assisting initiatives that promote stability and cooperation across the wider region.
