Punjab governor visits Alkhidmat head office, praises welfare projects

Published on: April 5, 2026 2:54 AM

Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan visited the head office of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, where he was received by Alkhidmat President Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, Secretary General Syed Waqas Jafri, and other officials.

During the visit, the governor was given a comprehensive tour of various departments, including disaster management, orphan care, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), microfinance, education, healthcare, Bano Qabil, and community services. Relevant officials briefed him on their respective areas and ongoing initiatives.

Appreciating the organisation’s efforts, the governor lauded Alkhidmat’s relief activities for the oppressed people of Gaza, its orphan sponsorship programmes in Pakistan and other countries, and its rescue operations during natural disasters. He assured full cooperation in further strengthening these humanitarian initiatives.

He said that Alkhidmat’s volunteer management system is highly impressive, adding that students from various universities and young individuals are actively engaged in serving humanity through the platform.

Referring to an iftar dinner hosted at the Governor House for orphaned children during Ramazan, he termed it an honour and a memorable occasion.

On the occasion, Dr Hafeez ur Rehman presented an honorary shield to the governor and thanked him for his visit. He said that Alkhidmat is a public welfare organisation, adding that its donors and volunteers are its greatest asset.

He further said that the foundation enjoys strong cooperation with federal and provincial governments in various welfare and relief projects, for which they are grateful. Highlighting joint efforts for Gaza relief, he noted that aid sent in collaboration with the government prominently carries Pakistan’s flag, which is a matter of pride for the nation. He added that the people of Pakistan are fulfilling their responsibility towards their Palestinian brothers and sisters.
