British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that there are no indications suggesting that Iran is targeting the United Kingdom. He emphasized that it is necessary to defend British interests and lives without becoming involved in the war. According to a foreign news agency, while speaking to media representatives on Monday, Prime Minister Starmer said that there is no evidence or indication on the basis of which it can be said or assumed that Iran is targeting Britain. The British Prime Minister’s statement came after a claim by the Israeli military, which said on Saturday that Iran now possesses missiles capable of reaching London, Paris, or Berlin. It added that an Iranian missile would need to travel approximately 2,700 miles to reach London. This claim was shared on the social media platform X, after which reports emerged that Iran had made an unsuccessful attempt to fire a ballistic missile at the US-UK military base on Diego Garcia, located about 2,350 miles from Iran’s southern coast. When asked about this attempted attack and whether Britain is within the range of Iranian missiles, Starmer responded that the government continuously reviews the situation to ensure national security, and there is no evidence to suggest that Iran is targeting the UK. He also stressed the need to reduce tensions, adding that while defending British interests and lives is essential, avoiding escalation is equally important.
