Government plans PM Eid Gift Program 2026 for citizens

Published on: March 16, 2026 11:39 AM

ISLAMABAD — The federal government of Pakistan is reportedly set to introduce the “PM Eid Gift Program for Every Pakistani 2026” to provide financial assistance to citizens ahead of Eid celebrations. The program aims to ease the financial burden faced by families due to rising inflation and increasing household expenses.

Eid, both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, is traditionally a time of family gatherings, gift-giving, and celebrations. However, the cost of preparing for the festivals — including purchasing new clothes, groceries, and traveling to meet relatives — has become challenging for many households. The government’s new initiative seeks to address these challenges by providing eligible families with direct financial support.

According to sources, the program is likely to utilize digital payment systems to ensure transparency, efficiency, and timely delivery of funds. Mobile wallets and banking channels are expected to be the primary methods for disbursing the financial aid. This approach aims to make the process faster and minimize any potential misuse of funds.

The primary objective of the PM Eid Gift Program is to help citizens manage the extra expenses associated with Eid, enabling deserving families to celebrate the festival with ease and dignity. Direct cash transfers are expected to allow families to purchase necessary items and participate fully in traditional celebrations without financial stress.

In addition, reports suggest that an online portal may be launched for the program, allowing citizens to check their eligibility using their national identity card (CNIC) and submit applications directly through the platform. This digital interface is expected to facilitate a smoother and more organized registration process, ensuring that the aid reaches the intended recipients efficiently.

The government has emphasized that the program is designed to provide meaningful relief to citizens and enhance the overall festive experience during Eid, particularly for low- and middle-income families struggling with the rising cost of living.
