
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz suspended official fuel for provincial ministers during the petroleum crisis. The government also cut fuel allowances for officials by 50 percent. The decision affects ministers, senior bureaucrats, and government offices across Punjab.
The chief minister introduced the measures to ease economic pressure caused by rising fuel costs. Officials linked the crisis to disruptions triggered by the Middle East conflict. The government said the steps will remain until the petroleum situation improves.

Moreover, authorities banned protocol vehicles accompanying ministers and senior officials. Only one vehicle will be allowed for essential security needs. The move aims to reduce fuel consumption and limit unnecessary government travel.
In addition, the provincial administration approved work-from-home arrangements for many government offices. Only essential staff will attend offices during the crisis period. Officials believe the measure will reduce commuting and conserve fuel.

Meanwhile, schools, colleges, and universities will remain closed from March 10 to March 31. However, examinations will continue according to the existing schedule. Educational institutions may conduct online classes to ensure learning continues during the closure.
