Kuwait reduces oil production as precaution

Published on: March 7, 2026 11:44 PM

Kuwait has reduced its oil production as a precautionary measure amid rising regional tensions and potential threats from Iran, according to Arab media reports. The decision aims to manage risks while ensuring stability in the energy sector.

Officials from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation described the production cut as part of a broader “risk management” strategy. They said production levels would be reviewed and adjusted according to evolving conditions in the region.

Kuwaiti authorities assured that domestic oil supply remains fully secure, and no disruptions are expected for local or international customers. The government emphasized that energy markets will continue to function normally.

The decision comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with regional conflicts prompting precautionary measures across several oil-producing countries. Experts note that such steps are common to safeguard critical infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed that oil production would resume to normal levels as soon as the security situation permits. Kuwait remains committed to balancing energy supply while protecting its facilities and responding to external risks.
