Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied involvement in a drone attack on Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region, officials said Thursday. In a phone call with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Araghchi assured that Iran had not launched any projectiles toward Azerbaijan.
He stated that Iran’s armed forces are conducting thorough investigations to verify the situation. The minister emphasized that Tehran did not authorize or conduct any drone strikes targeting Azerbaijani territory.

Araghchi also suggested that Israel may have been behind such attacks to manipulate public opinion and damage Iran’s relations with neighboring countries. The remarks aim to maintain diplomatic ties and regional stability.
Azerbaijan’s government had reported drone activity near Nakhchivan’s extra-cultural areas, prompting concerns about cross-border security. Iran’s denial seeks to prevent escalation and reinforce good neighborly relations with Baku.
