Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Wednesday attended the funeral prayers of police personnel martyred in the suicide attack at the Dajal Inter-Provincial Police Check Post and vowed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the funeral prayers were offered at District Police Lines Bhakkar and attended by Additional IG CTD Waseem Ahmad Sial, RPO Sargodha Dr. Shahzad Asif, Station Commander Brigadier Rashid Siddique Khokhar, Deputy Commissioner Bhakkar Ehsan Ali Jamali, DPO Bhakkar Shahzad Rafiq, senior police and law enforcement officers, family members of the martyrs and people from different walks of life. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute to the martyrs, while the IGP Punjab and other senior officers laid floral wreaths on the coffins and offered prayers for the elevation of their ranks.

On the occasion, IGP Punjab met the families of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to their supreme sacrifices, saying that the sacrifices rendered by police personnel for the protection of the homeland and maintenance of law and order were unforgettable. He reiterated that operations against Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij would continue with full force and the blood of the martyrs would not be allowed to go in vain.

Later, the IGP visited DHQ Hospital Bhakkar and inquired after Muhammad Zubair, a polio worker injured in the suicide attack. He prayed for his early recovery and directed the hospital administration to ensure provision of the best possible medical treatment.

Later, IGP Abdul Kareem paid a surprise visit to the Inter-Provincial Remote Search Park Chashma at the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border in Mianwali, where he reviewed border entry and exit points, sensitive locations, manpower, weapons, ammunition and security equipment. In the wake of the Dajal attack, he directed strict monitoring and checking of traffic coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, keeping the force on high alert and continuing intelligence-based operations.

Abdul Kareem said Punjab Police was fully capable of dealing with all kinds of challenges, adding that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain and all available resources would be utilised for maintaining law and order in the province.
