BISP launches digital dashboard to strengthen social protection

Published on: February 24, 2026 1:08 AM

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched a real-time digital dashboard for its flagship stunting prevention initiative, the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, a major step in strengthening performance monitoring and enabling data-driven decision-making across Pakistan’s health and social protection systems.

The dashboard was inaugurated by Chairperson BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, alongside Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, Country Director WFP, Coco Ushiyama, senior officials, and development partners.

The dashboard provides real-time insights, creating a more integrated and responsive social protection ecosystem that places mothers and children at the centre of service delivery. It allows timely tracking of programme performance, strengthens oversight, and improves policy responsiveness at both federal and provincial levels.

Senator Rubina Khalid highlighted the programme’s focus on field-level issues. “The country will progress only when everyone works together. Our focus remains on the ground, where real issues are understood. This programme ensures better growth for children and addresses nutritional deficiencies among girls,” she said. She also praised the Ministry of Health and partner organizations, noting that the dashboard enables effective, timely monitoring of all Nashonuma initiatives.

Senator Rubina Khalid added, “This initiative improves accountability and ensures interventions reach those who need them most. Better information allows us to deliver better services.” She acknowledged the technical support of WFP, UNICEF, and WHO.

Syed Imran Ahmed Shah said Pakistan faces a serious malnutrition challenge. “Sustainable poverty reduction is rooted in human development. BISP ensures financial assistance and nutritional support for deserving mothers and children. Over 4.3 million beneficiaries have already been reached,” he said. He emphasized that social protection is a long-term investment, not charity, and under the Prime Minister’s vision, transparency and effectiveness are being ensured.

The Benazir Nashonuma Programme has reached over four million women and children, providing essential nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life. Midline evaluations show measurable reductions in stunting, low birth weight, and early childhood malnutrition, including a 20% decline in stunting at six months.

These achievements reflect strong government leadership and the dedication of frontline workers operating 555 Facilitation Centres and 169 Nutrition Stabilization Centers nationwide.

The new dashboard equips BISP to assess programme performance in real time, enabling evidence-based improvements, a landmark step toward transparent and effective social protection.
