Poet Syed Salman Gilani laid to rest in Lahore

Renowned poet, naat-reciter, and speaker Syed Salman Gilani was laid to rest at Mustafa Town cemetery, here on Sunday.

The funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Ashrafia, led by Sheikh-ul-Hadith Hazrat Maulana Muhib-un-Nabi. The prayers were attended by a large gathering of religious scholars, political leaders, and distinguished personalities, including Prime Minister’s Adviser on Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir Shabbir Ahmed Usmani, Director General Press Information Department (PID) Shafqat Abbas, MNA Saif-ul-Maluk Khokhar, MPA Shehbaz Khokhar, Jamia Ashrafia Muhtamim Maulana Qari Arshad Ubaid, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Prof. Maulana Muhammad Yousaf Khan, and other religious leaders, teachers, and representatives of various social organizations.

Leaders from religious and political organizations also attended, including Liaqat Baloch, Dr. Fareed Ahmed Paracha, Maulana Amjad Khan, former MNA Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi, Aurya Maqbool Jan, Maulana Qari Muhammad Rafiq Wajhvi, Maulana Hafiz Hussain Ahmad, MNA Mian Muhammad Noman, Maulana Syed Abdul Khabeer Azad, Maulana Mufti Zaheer Ahmed Zaheer, Mufti Shehbaz Alam Farooqi, Maulana Shah Nawaz Farooqi, Maulana Naseer Ahmed Ahrar, Maulana Syed Faheem-ul-Hassan Thanvi, Maulana Imran Basheer, Osama Ajmal Qasmi, Maulana Faisal Bilal Hassan, Maulana Sufi Abdul Rahman, Allama Zubair Abid, Hafiz Ali Zubair Abid, Maulana Abu Bakr Chaudhry, Maulana Shahid Imran Arifi, Bilal Mir, Maulana Abdullah Madni, Maulana Mufti Anis Ahmed Mazahiri, Professor Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, and Maulana Ghulam Mustafa, among others.

Speakers at the funeral, including Maulana Amjad Khan, Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi, and Maulana Syed Abdul Khabeer Azad, paid rich tributes to Gilani, highlighting his lifelong contributions to religious scholarship and his steadfast efforts in defending the beliefs of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat and the honor of the Prophet’s companions and Ahl-e-Bayt.

It is pertinent to mention that the late poet had been suffering from a heart condition and was recently hospitalized due to pneumonia. He was later laid to rest at Mustafa Town Cemetery. On behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Minister for Information, DG PID Shafqat Abbas placed a floral wreath on his grave.
