According to officials, the attackers opened fire with automatic weapons on the facilities situated along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route. The slain officials were identified as customs officer Israr Khan and police constable Mohammad Bilal. The injured, Hazrat Umar and Khayal Mohammad, were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital’s trauma centre, where they were receiving treatment.
A police spokesperson said the militants also fired at passenger buses traveling along the CPEC route, creating panic among commuters. During the assault, a customs vehicle was set on fire. Security personnel responded with return fire, prompting the assailants to flee. A heavy police contingent arrived shortly after the incident, and a search operation was launched in the surrounding area to track the attackers.

Investigations are ongoing, with officials emphasizing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
This incident comes amid a rising pattern of targeted attacks on security personnel in Dera Ismail Khan. Earlier this month, at least four policemen, including a station house officer, were killed when armed militants attacked a police party in Paniala’s Wanda Budh area.
Authorities have urged residents and travelers along the CPEC route to remain vigilant as security forces increase patrols and surveillance. Local officials said they are coordinating with provincial and federal agencies to strengthen protection measures along the strategic corridor, which is vital for regional trade and connectivity.
