Pakistan has received the invitation of oath-taking ceremony of Bangladesh’s new prime minister that will take place on February 17 in Dhaka. An invitation has been received by Pakistan to attend the ceremony, and the Foreign Office has also confirmed the development. However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will not be able to attend the oath-taking ceremony, as he had departed for an official visit to Austria before receiving the invitation. The Foreign Office spokesperson said that the prime minister is currently on a pre-scheduled official visit to Austria. Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Tarique Rahman, head of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and extended his heartfelt congratulations on his party’s electoral success, the Prime Minister’s Office said. In an official statement, the prime minister also congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the general elections and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
