Karachi prepares cemeteries for Shab-e-Barat visitors

Published on: February 3, 2026 4:02 PM

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has completed major arrangements at cemeteries across the city to facilitate thousands of citizens who will visit graves on the night of Shab-e-Barat.

According to officials, preparations at KMC-managed graveyards are in the final stage, as authorities aim to provide essential services and ensure a respectful and organized environment for visitors.

Meanwhile, lighting systems and water tankers have been arranged at 38 cemeteries, while guidance camps will also be set up to help people locate graves and manage crowd movement.

In addition, city wardens have been deployed around major graveyards to maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion during peak hours of visitation.

Officials said these measures were taken under the directives of the Mayor of Karachi, focusing on public convenience, safety and better management of large gatherings.

Every year, a large number of people visit cemeteries on Shab-e-Barat to offer prayers for their deceased loved ones, making traffic control and facility management a key priority.
