Dr Sikander said the former premier had complained of reduced vision in his right eye. A qualified ophthalmologist initially conducted a comprehensive eye assessment at Adiala jail, including laboratory tests, ocular endoscopy, intraocular pressure measurement, and optical coherence tomography of the retina. Based on these tests, a diagnosis of right central vein occlusion was made, and hospital-based treatment was recommended.
The patient was brought to Pims on the night of January 24 for the procedure. Dr Sikander said Imran was fully briefed about the intervention, and informed consent was obtained prior to its commencement. The procedure was carried out in the hospital’s operation theatre under standard sterile protocols and continuous monitoring.
The medical update comes after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) approached the Supreme Court seeking assistance in arranging a meeting between Imran Khan and his personal physicians, with support from the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar had earlier confirmed that the former premier had received medical attention for his eye condition last week.
