
Karachi residents face rising financial pressure as the Sindh government increased flour prices ahead of Ramazan, setting the official retail rate at Rs107 per kilogram, adding to ongoing inflation challenges.
The price hike was announced by the Commissioner Karachi, making the new rates effective immediately, with a 10-kg flour bag now priced at Rs1,070, reflecting an Rs8 per kilogram increase.

Meanwhile, the ex-mill price of flour has been fixed at Rs104 per kilogram, or Rs1,040 for a 10-kg bag, marking an overall increase of Rs80 per standard flour bag across the city.
Despite official rates, consumers report that flour is not widely available at these prices, as local shopkeepers are charging Rs125 per kilogram, with chaki flour reaching Rs140 per kilogram in some areas.
This significant increase has sparked public concern, as flour is a staple food essential for households, making everyday items like roti increasingly unaffordable for lower-income families in Sindh.
