Published on: January 28, 2026 1:38 AM

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast cloudy weather with intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hilly areas, across several parts of the country during next 24 hours.

According to the PMD, rain-wind and thunderstorm with snowfall over hills is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, northeast Punjab, and northeast Balochistan.

Heavy rain accompanied by moderate to heavy snowfall is likely at isolated places in Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail in most other parts of the country.

The department has issued a warning that snowfall may cause road closures and slippery conditions in mountainous and hilly areas including Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galliyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, and Zhob during January 26 and January 27.

There is also a risk of landslides and avalanches in hilly regions of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Tourists have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.

In Islamabad, cloudy weather with intermittent rain and wind-thunderstorms is expected.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain with snowfall over hills is likely, with heavy rain and moderate to heavy snow expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.

In Punjab, rain-wind and thunderstorm is forecast for Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, and surrounding areas, while Murree and Galliyat may receive rain along with moderate to heavy snowfall.

Most parts of Sindh are expected to remain cold and dry.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather will prevail in most districts, while isolated rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall are likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, intermittent rain and snowfall is expected, with heavy rain and moderate to heavy snowfall likely in Astore, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli, and Jhelum Valley.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that a spell of western weather system will continue to affect Khyber Pakhtunkhwa intermittently until February 4, bringing snowfall to upper regions and rain with thunderstorms to the plains.

According to the PMD, multiple spells of intense cold and snowfall are expected in the northern and mountainous districts, including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat (Kalam and Malam Jabba), Shangla, Kohistan and Battagram.
