
PESHAWAR – At least nine people, including seven children, have died in rain- and snow-related accidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said. The incidents occurred in multiple districts, including Chitral, Malakand, Shangla, and Khyber, as severe weather continued since January 22. Authorities reported one child also remains injured.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) KP said the deaths resulted from avalanches, landslides, roof collapses, and accidents caused by heavy rain and snowfall. Five houses were partially damaged, and blocked highways in most areas have since reopened.

Rescue operations are ongoing in upper regions where roads remain closed. Machinery and rescue teams are clearing debris to restore access. PDMA has provided relief supplies including tents, blankets, bedding, kitchen sets, and other essentials to affected families.
PDMA’s Director General instructed district administrations to immediately deliver relief goods and accelerate emergency response activities. The goal is to ensure timely assistance reaches all affected victims, especially in remote areas.

The administration in Lower Chitral has been directed to provide early financial aid to families of the deceased and ensure full support for the injured. Authorities continue to monitor conditions as heavy rain and snow are expected to persist.
