Türkiye warns Israel may strike Iran soon

Published on: January 24, 2026 7:15 PM

Turkey has warned that Israel may be seeking an opportunity to strike Iran, raising regional security concerns. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said he conveyed these warnings directly to Iranian officials during a recent visit to Tehran. Ankara emphasized that foreign interventions in Iran would worsen instability.

The warning followed a phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. Erdogan reiterated Turkey’s opposition to external interventions and stressed the importance of Iran’s peace and stability. Iranian officials said any attack would be treated as “an all-out war,” signaling readiness to retaliate.

The tensions coincide with US President Donald Trump announcing the deployment of an “armada” of naval ships to the Gulf. The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its strike group are moving from the South China Sea to the Middle East in the coming days.

Iranian authorities have placed their military on high alert, vowing a decisive response to any violation of its sovereignty. Officials stressed that any attack, whether limited or large-scale, would be met with the “hardest” retaliation.

Analysts say the combined warnings from Türkiye and Iran, alongside US military movements, heighten the risk of a regional escalation. The situation remains closely monitored by neighboring countries and global powers.
