The update allows users to perform common editing tasks—such as removing pages, deleting text or images, managing comments, adding e-signatures, and applying password protection—by typing instructions in plain language. Instead of navigating complex menus or memorising tool locations, users can now tell the AI assistant what they want to do, and the software executes the request.

Adobe said the AI Assistant is part of a broader rollout of its in-house artificial intelligence tools aimed at improving productivity across its software ecosystem. In addition to editing, the assistant can convert PDFs into formats such as podcasts and presentations, expanding the traditional use cases of static documents.
The move addresses a long-standing pain point for PDF users. While PDFs are widely used for contracts, reports, and official documentation, editing them has often been cumbersome—especially for casual or non-technical users. Adobe’s natural-language approach simplifies this process, making quick edits faster and more intuitive.
For example, users can ask the AI Assistant to delete a specific page, remove embedded images, or secure a document with a password using a single conversational prompt. This reduces the need for multi-step workflows that have historically made PDF editing time-consuming.
Adobe has also introduced similar AI-driven features in other products, including Adobe Premiere, where tools such as Object Mask allow users to isolate subjects with a single click rather than complex manual masking.
