
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He briefed her on Pakistan’s macroeconomic improvements, fiscal discipline, and institutional reforms. Georgieva acknowledged the efforts and urged Pakistan to maintain momentum for long-term economic resilience.
During their meeting, both leaders discussed global economic challenges, especially those faced by emerging economies. They emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation to safeguard economic stability. PM Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to revenue mobilisation, sustainable development, and attracting global investment. The IMF chief appreciated the progress and reaffirmed the need for continuous reforms.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz met Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in Davos. Mustafa thanked Pakistan for its consistent support for the Palestinian people at international forums. He personally introduced himself and expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause. The meeting strengthened diplomatic ties and reflected Pakistan’s active role in regional issues.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar inaugurated the Pathfinder Group’s Pakistan Pavilion at the WEF. He praised the initiative for highlighting Pakistan’s economic potential and the innovation of its start-ups. Dar stressed the government’s support for youth-led enterprises to boost socio-economic development and innovation across sectors.

Additionally, FM Dar met Canadian counterpart Anita Anand to discuss enhancing bilateral economic and trade relations. Both sides agreed to explore new opportunities for collaboration and investment. The engagements in Davos reflect Pakistan’s push to attract global investors and strengthen international partnerships.
