Karachi, Lahore to face wet, snowy spell

Published on: January 15, 2026 4:45 PM

Pakistan is set to face widespread rain and heavy snowfall next week, the Meteorological Department said. Karachi, Lahore, and several other regions will be affected. The wet spell will begin midweek and intensify by January 20.

A shallow westerly wave will first impact upper regions like Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between January 16 and 19. Murree and Galliyat may see light rain and snow from January 18 to 20.

From January 20 to 23, rain and thunderstorms will spread to Islamabad, Punjab divisions including Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad, and KP’s Peshawar, Hazara, and Mardan. Heavy snowfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Murree, Galliyat, and Neelum Valley.

Balochistan including Quetta, Ziarat, and Gwadar will get rain and snow on January 21 and 22. Coastal and inland Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, may receive rainfall on January 22 and 23. Mountainous roads may become slippery, and landslides are possible.
