In line with the Federal Board of Revenue’s strategy to enhance anti-smuggling enforcement and facilitate legitimate trade, Syed Shakeel Shah, Member (Customs Operations), FBR, Islamabad, accompanied by Mr. Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Chief Collector of Customs Enforcement, Islamabad, undertook an official visit to Customs House Quetta on 8th and 9th January, 2026.

The visiting dignitaries were received by Mr. Masood Ahmed, Chief Collector of Customs (Appraisement), Balochistan; Dr. Karam Elahi, Collector of Customs (Enforcement), Quetta; Mr. Daud Pirzado, Collector of Customs (Appraisement), Quetta & Taftan; and Mr. Fazle Samad, Collector of Customs (Enforcement), Gaddani, along with senior officers from Customs formations.

During the briefing, Mr. Masood Ahmed apprised the senior management of trade dynamics in Balochistan and key issues faced by the trading community. Dr. Karam Elahi briefed the delegation on sustained anti-smuggling drives, intelligence-based operations (IBOs), and revenue gains achieved through strict enforcement. Mr. Fazle Samad highlighted robust enforcement actions and significant recoveries in Gaddani jurisdiction.

A delegation of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce & Industry also met the senior leadership and discussed trade-related concerns. The Member (Customs Operations) and the Chief Collector Customs Enforcement Islamabad issued on-the-spot directions for expeditious resolution of the issues raised. As part of the visit, the senior leadership planted saplings at Customs House Quetta, reflecting FBR’s commitment to environmental responsibility, and inaugurated two newly established Customs Enforcement sections. The visit also included a courtesy meeting with the Corps Commander Quetta, followed by an interactive session with senior leadership of law enforcement agencies, including the Inspector General Frontier Corps (North and South), Director General Pakistan Coast Guards, and the Chief of Staff. Discussions focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination, improving border management, facilitating legitimate trade, and intensifying collective efforts against smuggling. Concluding the visit, the senior FBR leadership appreciated the performance of Pakistan Customs formations in Balochistan, particularly their effective role in anti-smuggling operations and enhanced revenue collection.
