Severe cold and dense fog paralyzed normal life in Larkana city and surrounding towns on Thursday. Residents were largely confined to their homes as low visibility affected travel, school attendance, and office work. Power outages across many areas added to the difficulties faced by citizens.

According to Sepco officials, fog affected most areas under their jurisdiction, including Kashmore, Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Ubauro, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Kandiaro, and Dadu. Passengers traveling between cities faced serious challenges, with transport services delayed or suspended in several regions.
The local Met office recorded a maximum temperature of 14.5°C with relative humidity at 83 percent. Authorities warned that the cold wave and fog were expected to persist until January 15, potentially impacting neighboring areas as well.
Residents rushed to buy coats, sweaters, and jackets to protect themselves from the freezing weather. School attendance remained very low as classes resumed after the winter break, prompting parents to urge authorities to consider extending school vacations in light of extreme weather conditions.
Kandhkot and nearby areas experienced similar disruptions, with fog lasting for four consecutive days. Local trade was hit hard, and household routines were affected by intermittent electricity supply, with power restored briefly for only a few minutes during the day.

Authorities warned that the cold wave and fog could continue for several more days, urging residents to take precautions while traveling and to limit outdoor activities. Citizens were advised to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid health risks associated with extreme cold and poor visibility.
