Deputy Commissioner (DC) Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh, on Thursday, chaired a meeting of the district polio eradication committee (DPEC) to review preparations for the upcoming polio campaign in detail. The meeting was attended by SSP Matiari Rao Arif Aslam, ADC-II Matiari Iqra Jannat, DHO Dr Asif Hussain Shah, Assistant Commissioner Matiari Abdul Sattar Shaikh, Assistant Commissioner Hala Dr Mazahir, Assistant Commissioner Saeedabad Abdul Shakoor and other relevant officials. During the meeting, Dr Babar, the focal person from the health department, presented a detailed report outlining the current status of the polio campaign and the targets for the upcoming drive. Dr Babar informed the committee that under the current campaign, teams will be deployed through the newly established local government UC committees, town committees and municipal committees. The overall target of the campaign is 181,247 children. Whereas three tehsil supervisors, 38 UCMOs and 590 teams are designated. DC Muhammad Yousif Shaikh emphasized that all relevant departments must work in complete coordination to eradicate polio, and no negligence will be tolerated. He directed that special attention must be given to sensitive areas and that all arrangements, including security, be strengthened.
